The Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre (SCDT) is thrilled to unveil its programming line-up for Season 2025/26. 2025 signifies not just a new chapter for SCDT but also an important milestone for our country. As Singapore commemorates 60 years of independence, we reflect on our common history and look forward to a brighter future.

Inspired by the SG60 theme "Build Our Singapore Together", SCDT uses dance as a thread that connects communities, as a universal language that crosses all boundaries, and as a bridge that unites hearts through shared cultural experiences.

As one of Singapore's professional dance companies, we remain dedicated to the progression of our art form, honouring history while pushing new boundaries. This celebration season highlights our Singaporean spirit: Unity, Courage, Tribute, and Harmony—values that will be explored in each of the season programmes, illustrating how dance both mirrors and shapes the Singapore soul.

Chinese Dance Fiesta 2025

UNITY – Chinese Dance Fiesta

This season opens with the Chinese Dance Fiesta (CDF), running from 20 April to 3 May 2025. Celebrating the spirit of Unity, CDF showcases the vibrant artistry of Chinese dance through eight performances by talented dancers from schools, community groups, and professional companies—bringing cultural expression to the heart of everyday spaces where people live, work, and play. This year, we’re expanding our footprint with new performance venues at Kreta Ayer Square and the Singapore Botanic Gardens. The special highlight will be the Dunhuang dance workshops and talks led by Li Qian, a distinguished lecturer from the Dance Academy of Northwest Minzu University in China, as part of the Master series.

This June, our talented students soar to the stage in Taking Flight, showcasing Courage: the bold leap beyond comfort, the fearless embrace of the unknown. Through movement, they pour their hearts into storytelling and find their unique voices. This year’s theme, "Our Home," inspires them to explore their roots, share personal stories, and dance toward their futures with confidence. This programme is presented under the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre's (SCCC) Venue Partnership Scheme and will be held on 29 June 2025 at SCCC Auditorium.

TRIBUTE – Impressions of Telok Ayer

The highlights of this season, our company production, happens on 1 August 2025 at SOTA Drama Theatre. Titled Impressions of Telok Ayer, it signifies the spirit of Tribute to commemorate our past while extending gratitude towards the future.

Set against the historic Thian Hock Keng Temple, the performance unfolds through four distinct narratives. As the dancers move, they blur the lines between past and present, history and imagination. More than a performance, it is an invitation to touch time itself—to experience the living continuum of art and heritage that connects us all.

This year, we invite friends from various ethnicities and cultures to celebrate friendships formed through dance over the years. Attendees can enjoy captivating performances under the open sky, participate in games, and spend quality time together. The carnival will showcase the vibrant cultural diversity of Singapore, echoing Harmony as a celebration of our many voices and differences.
