Chinese Dance Fiesta 2021

Chinese Dance Fiesta is finally back this coming May!!! Through both physical and digital means, Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre aims to bring Chinese dance out of the theatre, generating greater awareness and appreciation for Chinese dance amongst the masses.

Beside exhilarating performances featuring dancers from local dance troupes and dance institutes. Do join our Founding Artistic Director Madam Lim Moi Kim and Senior Lecturer at Singapore Raffles Music College dance department as they share the beauty of Chinese Classical (Fan) dance and Chaoxian dance in China as part of our Master Series.

The Chinese circular fan has a long history traced back to ancient Chinese court. Over millennia, the Chinese fans have evolved from an accessory for daily use to an artefact that incorporates the essence of various forms of arts and culture. The use of Chinese circular fan, further bring out the beauty, noble and elegant of Chinese Classical dance.

We welcome you to join our Founding Artistic Director Madam Lim Moi Kim to immerse in the beauty of Chinese culture.

Facilitator Bio:
 

Born in Singapore, Madam Lim Moi Kim is recognise by the arts community for her artistic excellence, as well as contribution and commitment to Singapore Chinese dance scene.

She is the founding Artistic Director of Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan Dance Troupe, Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre (SCDT) and former lecturer at the LaSalle College of the Arts, Dance Faculty. She is presently an Artistic Advisor of SCDT and Adjunct Lecturer in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Dance Department.

With years of hard work and perseverance, Madam Lim has earned a fine reputation for herself in the dance industry. She has many times been invited to choreograph for prestigious national events, been invited as an external examiner or adjudicator for dance examinations and competitions, and also invited to work with important bodies such as the Ministry of Education. In 2018, Madam Lim was formerly invited as an overseas dance lecturer by the Yunnan Arts Institute Affiliated Arts School.

If you are curious to find out more about their dance then you need to join Ms Shao Ziwen, Senior Lecturer of Singapore Raffles Music College at our "Talk and Demonstration" as part of Chinese Dance Fiesta 2021.

Speaker Bio:
 

Ms Shao Ziwen, Deputy Head of Dance, Singapore Raffles Music College (Dance Faculty) graduated with Bachelor of Dance from Minzu University of China in 2012 and obtained her Master in Dance (Choreography) from Minzu University of China in 2015.

She specialises in Chinese folk dance and Chinese classical dance. She also has experience in learning contemporary dance, ballet, and choreography.
